Mark and Leo
|
Proud Papa!
We were out the other night taking Leo for a walk, when we happened to meet up with a
family of four (Mom, Dad, and two girls) enjoying their own evening out looking at all the
Christmas lights that decorate many of the homes in our neighborhood. As we approached
them, I could hear the mother say to the older of the two girls "Just wait there
'till he gets up to you".
As we got closer to the girl, I asked her if she wanted to pet Leo and boy did she
ever! A moment later the entire family had surrounded my boy and everyone had a hand
on him, of course he was eating it up. He still loves everyone and everything!
The mother went on to tell Judy and myself how they have been watching Leo grow over the
last year and how much
their older daughter just loves him! So much in fact, she had to write a report for school
and she chose Great Danes as her subject matter all because she had seen me walking Leo
past their home on several occasions. Leo is the first and only Dane that this
little one has ever seen or met. It was so sweet. I asked Leo how he felt about being the
inspiration for such a creation, but he was too busy being petted by his new friends to
give the question much thought.
I forgot to ask what grade she received on the report. I'll assume it was an"A"
given the subject mater.
Truly, I try to explain what it is like being a Dane owner to other people and it really
is one of those things you have to experience for yourself.
